Olmezest H is a combination medication that includes a fixed dose of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, used together to manage high blood pressure in individuals at risk of cardiovascular issues, aiming to reduce the likelihood of strokes and heart attacks.

Olmezest H comprises the active ingredients Olmesartan Medoxomil (40mg), which is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5mg), a type of diuretic, both utilized in treating essential hypertension.

It is recommended that you take Olmezest H with a glass of water once a day, either with or without food, and at the same time each day. While Olmezest H helps manage your blood pressure, it does not provide a cure, so you should continue using it as long as your doctor advises to maintain blood pressure within normal limits. Olmezest H aids in controlling blood pressure without curing it, so follow your doctor's guidance on its continued use to ensure your blood pressure remains at a healthy level.

Olmezest H is a fixed dose combination therapy for essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure remains uncontrolled with a single medication. Although essential hypertension typically does not present additional symptoms, it significantly raises the risk of cardiovascular diseases and, if left unmanaged, can lead to kidney damage, strokes, heart attacks, and heart failure. Olmezest H works to reduce blood pressure to normal levels, helping the heart function more effectively and minimizing the risk of cardiovascular issues and damage to vital organs.

Common side effects reported with Olmezest H include upper respiratory infections such as sinusitis and bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, headaches, fatigue, back pain, peripheral edema, and fluctuations in blood electrolyte levels.

You should avoid using Olmezest H if you: are allergic to olmesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any components in Olmezest H; have an allergy to sulphonamides; are pregnant or nursing; suffer from kidney or liver disease; have a history of heart disorders or strokes; experience difficulty urinating; are taking medications that may interact with Olmezest H, including other antihypertensives, diuretics such as furosemide, potassium-sparing diuretics like spironolactone, potassium supplements, lithium for mental health conditions, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antacids such as aluminum magnesium hydroxide, narcotic pain relievers like codeine, barbiturates for epilepsy such as phenobarbital, corticosteroids like prednisone, cholestyramine and colestipol for high cholesterol, or muscle relaxants like tubocurarine, and lithium for mood stabilization.
